Welcome to St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Moorthope website. I hope you find it informative and that it gives you an insight into school life.
St. Joseph's has a strong Catholic ethos and it is well known for caring well for its pupils. Our aim is for each child to thrive within our Catholic community and to fulfil their potential in every way possible. We want all pupils to find school life interesting, challenging and enjoyable, whilst feeling safe, secure and valued. Through dedicated teaching and a caring pastoral system we help our children to become confident, happy, independent and caring young people.
If your child is new to the school, we warmly welcome you and look forward to a successful partnership between home and school. If your child already attends St. Joseph's, we will work with you to build on the existing links, by providing the best education possible.
St. Joseph's received an Ofsted inspection in February 2017 and was graded 'Good' in every area:
"The headteacher and other leaders, including governors, are highly ambitious and have a clear vision for the school. They set high standards and expectations....Pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare are good. Within the school there is a strong sense of community. Pupils are very supportive of each other and show a high level of respect towards all members of the school."
In January 2015, the Section 48 Report stated:
"Leadership at all levels, promotes a very strong Catholic ethos in St. Joseph’s School. Pupils are encouraged and challenged not only to recognise and celebrate their own unique God given gifts and talents, but also to respect and celebrate those of the other pupils and staff in the school. Religious Education is not a ‘bolt on’ at St. Joseph’s, it is ‘lived out’ in the classrooms and play areas of the school on a daily basis. Christ truly is ‘at the heart’ of all that the school seeks to achieve."
I hope that the website will answer some of your questions and will allow you to become familiar with our school.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you would like to discuss anything further, or to arrange a tour of the school.
